Vans & Buses

The company's actual profile was determined in 1956, when the first passenger bus was built on a truck chassis. In 1957, the manufacturing program was enlarged to include troley busses, vans, ambulances and small trucks, based on the company's own design and conception. First, the cars were called T.V. (from Tudor Vladimirescu, the ancient warrior), then the name changed in ROCAR (from Romanian Car). The first small vans (TV 1, 2, 3,4 and 5 types) used the chasis and engine of Aro M-461. In 1962, these vans were equipped with larger engines (70 CP). Two years later, the types TV-41 and TV-51 were launched. These cars had a new bodywork and some technical improvements. Starting from 1973 all the TV vans were equipped with Diesel engine D 127, same used by Aro cars.
In 1971, through the acquisition of a M.A.N. licence, the buses, small trucks and vans range has been diversified and the production facilities have been greatly enhanced. This was the first step in the introduction of new technologies.

Besides these production and assembly facilities, ROCAR has auxiliary facilities, like: the spare parts store, the testing and trials division, the car repair shop.
An important characteristic is that the majority of the vehicles (buses and vans) built here are conceived and designed by their own design engineers, within the factory.
*The export activity started in 1968, with great success. Today, ROCAR has modern equipment and assembly lines, with business partners in countries like: Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Columbia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Cuba, Chile
