Retro Car

All of Romania's political leaders used to have special luxury cars.
His Majesty King Michael I of Romania had a Jaguar SS 100 (the very first one with 3.5 l engine) and a collection of military Jeep Willys.
Nicolae Ceausescu had a Mercedes 600 Landaulet -a very rare car, only 11 built) and a few Aro 244 especially made for him. This Aro 244 was longer than usual types, the colour was light blue-gray and it had a lot of chrome (american style). It had sunroof, so Ceausescu could wave at the people. For daily use, Ceausescu had a black Dacia 2000 (which was a Renault 20 made in Romania) and a blue Renault 18.

In his garage he had a few special cars:
Mercedes 350 SL - Made in Germany - 1973; Body of the car: Sport hardtop with 2 side doors; Engine: 3.499 cc; Computerized with vocal and analogical warnings. The vehicle was a special command by N. Ceausescu for his daughter, Zoe, in 1969 and it's unique, beeing one of the first Mercedes SL produced. Now the car is owned by a Mercedes enthusiast from Romania.

Buick Electra 225 - Made in USA in 1974; Body of the car: Limousine car with 4 doors; Engine:7468 cmc; The car was a present offered by President Nixon in 1976. Ceausescu used this vehicle at the reception of some officials.
Volkswagen Kubelwagen - Made in Germany in 1973; Body of the car: 4 doors; Engine: 1584 cc; A constructive solution having rear engine and rear whell drive, metallic body and softop with tarpaulin. It was a present for Ceausescu family, used especially in hunting actions .

Hillman - Made in IRAN in 1974; Body of the car: 4 doors; Engine:1496 cmc; The interior is upholster with leather, the board and other inside ornaments made of walnut. It is unique and it was a gift for Ceausescu from the Iran Sahinssah, Reza-Pahlavi.
Bus Salon ELLMAN Diesel 750 - Made by MAN Germany in 1984; Engine: 9.658 cmc; The bus has shower, 6 phones, refrigerator, kitchen, air condition and was a gift for Ceausescu from ELLMAN factory. The bus is unique and special made for Ceausescu. This car is now used by a cinema company.

DACIA 1100 - Produced by U.A.Pitesti in 1968; Series : 0; Engine: 1.100 cc; Body of car : Standard with 4 doors; The car was offered to Ceausescu family by Autovehicle Factory Pitesti being the first autovehicle made in Romania after WW II. In the rear engine, there is a platinum plate with homages inscriptions. Nowdays, the car is owned by Romanian Automobile Club (ACR).
